Tour Description
This seven-day Kenya safari combines the country’s most recognisable wildlife regions into one practical circuit from Nairobi. The itinerary begins in the Masai Mara where Kenya’s classic savannah safari experience remains strongest year-round. Two nights in the Mara allow enough time to properly explore predator territory and the open plains surrounding the Mara River.
From the Mara, the route moves through the Great Rift Valley into Lake Nakuru National Park. Nakuru offers a completely different ecosystem from the Mara: rhino sanctuary habitat, acacia woodland, alkaline lake shoreline, and one of Kenya’s strongest concentrations of birdlife. The safari then continues to Lake Naivasha where the pace changes slightly with a freshwater lake boat ride and optional walking safari among giraffes and zebras on Crescent Island.
The final section takes you south to Amboseli National Park near the Tanzania border. Amboseli is known for its elephant herds and for some of Africa’s most recognisable wildlife photography conditions when Mount Kilimanjaro appears clearly behind the plains.
The practical advantage of this itinerary is variety. In seven days you experience open savannah, Rift Valley escarpments, freshwater lakes, alkaline lake ecosystems, acacia woodland, and semi-arid elephant country without needing domestic flights between parks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a good first Kenya safari?
Yes. This itinerary gives a broader introduction to Kenya than shorter safaris because it combines savannah wildlife, lakes, elephants, rhinos, birdlife, and mountain scenery in one route.
Will I definitely see the Big Five?
No safari can guarantee every species. However, lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and several antelope species are commonly seen. Rhinos are especially reliable at Lake Nakuru. Leopards remain the most difficult of the Big Five to predict.
Is Mount Kilimanjaro always visible in Amboseli?
No. Cloud cover affects visibility daily. Early mornings usually provide the clearest mountain views.
Are boat rides included at Lake Naivasha?
Yes. The Lake Naivasha boat ride is included in this safari package.
Can this safari be upgraded to private?
Yes. The itinerary is available as both group joining and private safari. Private departures offer greater flexibility on timing and photography stops.

Common Safari Planning Mistakes to Avoid
Mistake 1: Assuming flamingos are guaranteed at Lake Nakuru
Fix: Flamingo numbers naturally fluctuate with water levels and algae concentration. Rhino viewing remains consistently strong even when flamingos are fewer.
Mistake 2: Underestimating travel times between parks
Fix: Kenya safaris involve real overland distances. This itinerary balances driving and wildlife time carefully, but travellers should still expect several long scenic drives.
Mistake 3: Forgetting warm clothing for early morning drives
Fix: Morning game drives in the Mara and Amboseli can be cold before sunrise. A light fleece or jacket makes a major difference.
Mistake 4: Expecting Kilimanjaro visibility all day
Fix: Mountain visibility changes constantly. Early mornings offer the best photography conditions.

This was not our first time going to here. It is a great place to shop not too far from New York. We took the bus from Port Authority and traveled through the countryside to get there.
