Day 1: Mombasa / Diani – Tsavo East

Pick up early in the morning from your beach hotel in Mombasa, Diani, Watamu, or Malindi and depart for Tsavo East National Park via the Mombasa–Nairobi highway. Enjoy a scenic drive as you leave the coastal region and head inland towards one of Kenya’s largest and oldest national parks.

Enter the park through Bachuma or Manyani Gate and immediately begin your first game drive en route to the lodge. Tsavo East is famous for its vast open plains, red soil landscapes, and large herds of “red elephants,” which get their color from the park’s distinctive dust.

Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch, check in, and relax briefly. In the afternoon, proceed for an exciting game drive where you may spot elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and a variety of birdlife. You may also visit key attractions such as Aruba Dam, a popular watering point where animals gather, especially during the dry season.

Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Tsavo East – Mombasa / Diani

After an early breakfast, embark on a morning game drive during the best time to view wildlife, as animals are most active in the cooler hours of the day. Explore more of the park’s diverse habitats including open savannah, riverine vegetation, and scattered acacia woodland.

After the game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast (or enjoy a picnic breakfast depending on your schedule), then check out and begin your journey back to the coast. Enjoy a final en-route game drive as you exit the park.

Proceed to Mombasa or Diani arriving in the afternoon, with drop-off at your beach hotel or airport, marking the end of your 2 days Tsavo East budget safari.
