5 Days Kenya Birding Safari
Day 1: Nairobi - Lake Naivasha
Pick up from Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta international airport then depart to Naivasha driving past magnificent Rift Valley view points arriving in time for lunch. Thereafter enjoy an afternoon bird walk. Lake Naivasha is a fresh water lake. It was declared a bird sanctuary in 1967. You will be able to see the birds of the region such as the herons, fish eagles, black crakes, and lily trotters. Lake Naivasha being on the Rift floor is home to an incredible variety of bird species. Over 450 species have been recorded here. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Lake Naivasha- Lake Nakuru
Breakfast then proceeds to Lake Nakuru National park, regarded by avid birders as the greatest ornithological paradise, arriving by mid morning. The park is famous for its millions of pink flamingoes lining on the lake shores. Enjoy game drive enroute to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon game drive followed by a walk along the shores which will allow you to see the many wild animals in the Park. The park is also a sanctuary to black ad white Rhino and Rothschild giraffe. Here you will have a chance to see common species like lesser and greater flamimgoes,African fish eagle,, tawny eagle, green wood hoopoes, great white and pink backed pelican plus other intra-african migrants. Dinner and overnight
Day 3: Lake Nakuru- to Lake Baringo
After breakfast, enjoy game viewing en route out of the park. Then proceeds through the highlands to lowland s of baringo, a famous birding hot spot arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight
Day 4: Lake Baringo
Early morning three hour boat ride to the mouth of molod river feeding lake Baringo. The marsh is home to various waders including the saddle-billed stork, herons, egrets, cormorants, swamp-hens and sand pipers. After breakfast, embark for nocturnal birds till midday then lunch. Thereafter proceed for general birding in the west bay area for boubous, babblers, gonolek, lapwings, warblers and many species. Dinner and second overnight
Day 5: Lake Baringo to Nairobi
Breakfast then depart for Nairobi arriving later in the afternoon where you will be dropped at Jomo Kenyatta international airport for your onwards international flight.
